Office hours: by appointment, between May 29 and June 5
Seminar Overview:
Students are strongly encouraged to contact the instructors to express their particular goals and interests within the broad issue of citizenship, and how those fit into their current or future academic or professional plans. Hence, students should approach instructors by e-mail even before the beginning of the course.
In the first session of the C&A seminar (May 29), an extra ‘wine and cheese session’ will be scheduled for the most convenient date and time for the group, during which students will have a chance to get better acquainted with each other and with the teaching faculty. At that time, the instructors will also introduce their latest project: Future Citizenship (www.futurecitizenship.com)
Evaluation Requirements:
Before June 15, each student must submit one 250-300 word (equiv. to half-page single spaced) response to each of the two challenges posted on the Citizens and Aliens blog (www.citizensandaliens.com).
Each student will be expected to give a short in-class oral report (no longer than 15 minutes) on one of the readings assigned (see below). Readings may be chosen by students on a first-come first-served basis. In case students have not chosen their reading before May 29, the instructors will assign one.
A 2000-2500 word paper (double spaced, Times New Roman 12) is due July 6, 2009.
